Information We Collect
What information does SaukiMart collect?
Account Information
When you sign up for SaukiMart, we collect basic details like your name, phone number, and email address. This is used to create and manage your account, verify your identity, and communicate with you about your account activity.
Transaction and Wallet Records
When you make a purchase, fund your wallet, send a transfer, or pay a bill, we record the details of that transaction — including the amount, the service, the recipient (where applicable), and the outcome. These records exist so that you have a clear history of your activity, and so that we can resolve any disputes or issues that arise.
Device and Usage Information
We may collect certain technical information about the device you use to access SaukiMart — such as your device type, operating system, and session identifiers. This helps us maintain platform security, detect suspicious activity, and improve the overall experience.
Support Conversations
If you contact our support team, we keep a record of that conversation. This allows us to follow up on unresolved issues, track patterns that may indicate a wider problem, and provide better help over time.
Virtual Account Details
When a virtual wallet account is created for your profile, this process is handled through Flutterwave, our regulated payment infrastructure partner. The information required for account setup is processed by Flutterwave in line with their own regulated compliance obligations.
We do not collect more information than we need. If a service does not require a particular piece of data, we do not ask for it.
02
How We Use Your Information
What do we do with your information?
Everything we collect is used for a specific, legitimate purpose. Here is how your information is used across SaukiMart:
To Deliver the Services You Request
When you buy data, recharge airtime, pay an electricity bill, or make a wallet transfer, we use your account and transaction information to process that request and deliver the service. Without this, the platform simply cannot function.
To Manage Your Wallet and Account
Your wallet balance, transaction history, deposit records, and transfer activity are maintained so you have full visibility into your account at all times — and so we can reconcile transactions accurately.
To Send You Receipts and Notifications
After every successful purchase or payment, we send you a confirmation. We may also send important account notices, security alerts, or service updates. You can manage your notification preferences from within the app or dashboard.
To Provide Customer Support
When you raise a support request, we use your account history and conversation records to understand the issue and resolve it as efficiently as possible.
To Keep the Platform Safe
We use technical data, session information, and transaction patterns to detect fraud, prevent unauthorised access, and protect the integrity of the platform for all users.
To Meet Our Legal and Compliance Obligations
As a financial services platform operating in Nigeria, we are required to maintain certain records for regulatory, reconciliation, and audit purposes. Some of your data — particularly financial transaction records — is retained specifically to meet these obligations.
What we will never do: We will never sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party that does not have a direct role in delivering SaukiMart services to you.
03
How We Protect Your Data
How does SaukiMart keep your information secure?
We take the security of your personal and financial information seriously. The following measures are in place across the platform:
Encrypted PIN Storage
Your transaction PIN is stored using strong encryption. It is never stored in plain text, and it is never visible to our internal team.
Secure Authentication Tokens
When you log in to SaukiMart, your session is protected using expiring authentication tokens. These tokens have a limited lifespan, reducing the risk of unauthorised access if a session is ever compromised.
HTTPS Encryption in Transit
All data exchanged between your device and SaukiMart servers is transmitted over HTTPS, meaning it is encrypted in transit and protected from interception.
Server-Side Validation
Every transaction and account action is validated on our servers — not just on your device. This prevents manipulation of requests and ensures that only legitimate actions are processed.
Regulated Payment Processing
All wallet funding, virtual account creation, and payment flows are handled through Flutterwave, a regulated and licensed payment infrastructure provider. This means the most sensitive parts of your financial activity are processed within a regulated environment.
Managed Database Infrastructure
Your account and transaction data is stored in managed infrastructure with access controls, monitoring, and regular security reviews.
We continuously review and update our security practices as the platform evolves. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we work to make SaukiMart as safe as possible for every user.
04
Service Partners We Work With
Who does SaukiMart share data with?
We work with a small number of third-party service providers who help us deliver and operate the platform. We share your data with these partners only to the extent that is necessary for them to perform their role. They are not permitted to use your data for any other purpose.
Flutterwave — Payments and Wallet Infrastructure
Flutterwave processes wallet funding, virtual account creation, and payment flows. As a regulated payment provider, Flutterwave handles this data under its own compliance and security obligations.
Trusted VTU Services Providers.
When you purchase a data plan through SaukiMart, the fulfillment request is processed through our patner's infrastructure. Only the information needed to complete the delivery — such as your phone number and the selected plan — is shared.
Notification and Messaging Providers
Where we send you SMS or push notifications for transaction confirmations, alerts, or account notices, we use third-party messaging services. Only your phone number or device token — and the content of the specific notification — is passed to these providers.
We do not use advertising networks. We do not share data with data brokers. We do not allow our service partners to use your information for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
05
How Long We Keep Your Data
How long does SaukiMart hold on to your information?
We do not keep your data longer than necessary. Here is how we approach retention across different categories of information:
Financial and Transaction Records
These are retained for as long as required by Nigerian financial regulations, as well as our own obligations around reconciliation, fraud prevention, and audit trail maintenance. In practice, this typically means transaction records are kept for several years.
Account Information
Your account profile information is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal profile data, subject to any regulatory hold obligations on your financial records.
Support Conversations
Support conversations are kept for a reasonable period to allow for follow-up and pattern analysis. Conversations that are no longer relevant to an active issue or compliance need may be deleted or anonymized over time.
Device and Technical Data
Session-level technical data is not retained indefinitely. It is used for immediate security and operational purposes and is not stored long term.
If you would like to know more about how long specific types of data are retained, or if you have a specific request related to your data, contact us at support@saukimart.com.
06
Your Rights
What rights do you have over your data?
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), you have rights regarding your personal information. SaukiMart respects and supports these rights.
Right to Access
You can request a summary of the personal information we hold about you. We will provide this within a reasonable time frame after verifying your identity.
Right to Correction
If any of the information on your account is incorrect or out of date, you can request that we correct it. You can also update certain details directly from within the app or dashboard.
Right to Deletion
You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data. We will process this request, though please note that some financial records may need to be retained for regulatory and compliance reasons even after account deletion.
Right to Withdraw Consent
Where we rely on your consent to process certain data, you can withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect any processing that took place before the withdrawal.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
If you believe we have handled your data in a way that violates your rights, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Notification Preferences
You can manage your notification preferences — including transaction alerts and account notices — from within the SaukiMart app or dashboard at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@saukimart.com or visit the support page on our website. We aim to respond to all privacy-related requests promptly.
07
Policy Updates
How will you know if this policy changes?
We may update this privacy policy from time to time as our services evolve, new regulations come into effect, or our practices change. When we make a meaningful change to this policy, we will:
- Update this page with the new version and a revised effective date
- Notify users through in-app notifications or account notices where the change is significant
- Give you the opportunity to review the changes before continuing to use the platform
Continuing to use SaukiMart after a policy update has been communicated means you accept the revised terms. If you do not agree with an update, you may contact us to discuss your options or request account deletion. We encourage you to review this page periodically so you are always aware of how your information is being handled.
